My Facebook feed is littered with people peddling wares from multilevel marketing rackets. No ladies, you will NOT make money off of this. Sure, it seems like a great idea. Staying home with the kiddies while making money- if staying home is your thing. The amount of money that goes into becoming a rep for one of these things is insane! Paying up for product and materials, then business cards, websites, supplies for “parties”all cost more than the paltry commissions that may or may not come in. While on the subject of parties, I went to a Pampered Chef party last summer. It was really awkward and the food cooked, if it can be called food, was awful. Cooking is NOT nuking crap in the microwave. Plus the pasta dish had meat in it, damn me and my vegetarian ways. The food was supposed to make us want to buy the dishes it was “cooked” in. Nah, I’ll pass. Then there was desert. Nasty soft baked store bought Chips Ahoy layered with whipped cream (processed, store bought, duh!) in a trifle bowl. Gross waxy el cheapo presentation. How about NO! The things in the catalog were way over priced. The relative “hosting” the party got some sort of swag for reeling people in. The weird lady whose house we were at got a bigger cut, I think. I steer clear of companies that have reps that talk in circles and can’t tell if they’re buying or selling. I don’t wear makeup or do the whole fake nail thing and people know this, yet I still get invited to Mary Kay and Jamberry parties. Dude, overpriced crap! If I want fancy pants toes I’ll get some frickin’ nail polish for a dollar! Fifteen bucks for a goofy manicure, eff that. As for sex toys, there’s a former client/friend who keeps on pushing for sex toy parties and sales. I’m not shy about sex, I can take myself down to the local sex store and buy some toys if the fancy strikes me. No waiting for shipping that way.
Here’s a list of pyramid scheme crap that I don’t get involved with. (though some may say bitching about said companies is advertising)
DoTerra & Young Living.
Any other bullshit scheme out there.
